What causes the push and pull of INERTIA - GRAVITY

1- Is it possible for a force to pull an object at a distance without something REAL between them?
2- Does curved space refer to a continuous, smooth, universal medium that is everywhere throughout the universe?
3- How does matter withstand external forces, seemingly forever, without collapsing? Imagine the rock that the Empire State Building is sitting on day after day after day...
4- Could it be that, at the heart of an atom, an ENERGY TO MATTER CONVERTER continuously sustains the object in the matter state and requires a continuous flow of the universal medium?

For your gravity comments, I recently got a letter from a Charles Reach that stated that gravity was a "shielding effect" of matter in a medium of random vector fields that could inter-relate down to Planke's constant, the self same field that causes inertia (his theory).
An experiment was reported that had 4000 foot piano wires holding two massive lead weights side by side, and they measured 8 inches APART at the bottom of a mine shaft, instead of the expected closer together! That experiment was hushed up. May be true, may be not, but interesting eh? ===========================================

What happens when a photon strikes a surface? Does the wave energy just get absorbed by the atom it strikes? Does reflection involve absorption and release of a new photon or does the photon just bounce off....consider refraction when answering.
When some materials are struck with light electron flow results. Could the photons be converting to electrons? If so, does this constitute energy to matter conversion with the result of converting from a weightless media to one with weight? If so, could this be used as a gate for turning GRAVITY on and off?
